Hi there…

I am an oncology-focused, creative copywriter with 10+ years of experience creating content for HCP and patient audience segments.

Why oncology?

The month before I started grad school, my father lost his battle with lung cancer prematurely.
He drove to the hospital feeling just a little out of breath, then a doctor ordered a treadmill stress test instead of using a nuclear stress test with dye. My parents were raised to never question doctors. His lung collapsed and we lost him hours later. The Veterans Health Administration had attributed the lung cancer to agent orange exposure during my father’s two tours of duty in the Vietnam War.

Years later, my brother was diagnosed with prostate cancer that was almost missed. His first doctor thought the prevalence of prostate cancer in African-Americans was too low to test him for it. Thankfully, my brother got a second opinion. After several rounds of treatment, he has been in remission for over 10 years.

Based on my family’s experiences with cancer, I bring a passion for health equity to all I do.
I am currently enrolled in Columbia University’s Narrative Medicine program to learn how to bridge barriers in patient/HCP communications. I believe in the transformative power of stories.

I’ve worked as a client-facing pharmaceutical copywriter for over 10 years, using strategic storytelling to drive brand awareness, understanding, and adoption. I have 5 years of supervisory experience and am an active member of the Omnicom Health Group DEI Advisory Board.

With a Bachelor of Science in Forestry and a Master of Fine Arts in Creative Nonfiction, my work is infused with my love of science and storytelling. I’d say my superpowers are deep curiosity, close listening, unbridled imagination, and the capacity to dream.

I am based in the San Francisco Bay Area and enjoy all that Northern California has to offer. When I’m not writing, you might find me on a Mendocino wine train, exploring along Pacific Coast Highway, or foraging wild, gourmet mushrooms on the Sonoma Coast.
